This is terrible, I didn't know Howard personally but can remember his posts on here. I hope he is now at peace and wishing his family and friends a long life. I too would definitely be up for donating money towards the 2 charities mentioned.

Sometimes we miss the important things and focus on minor trivialities, ones that don't matter and it always brings it home to me how insignificant the majority of worries and stresses are when I hear of things like this - all we genuinely need in life is to be happy, without that we don't have an awful lot.

Couldn't have put it any better myself. I'll be thinking of him when I go pick up the ST in the morning and every time I play it, I'm sure.

i was so shocked on Friday and I'm still stunned by this news now.i never met him but his posts always seemed so happy. this is a tragic loss and he will be missed on here. I'm so sorry to hear about this i can't imaging what his family/friends are going through right now. i listened to Be Safe on my way home from work Friday as a tribute to Howard. such sad sad terrible news . count me in for the collection that is a really nice idea

Statement from the band to you all:

Hi everyone,
We just heard the terribly sad news about Howard Croft. We want everyone to know that we do feel this very deeply - the fact that any young person, especially someone who cared about what we are doing found themselves in this situation, backed against a wall like this is something that we are profoundly affected by. Although we only met Howard personally in brief encounters, after looking through his prior posts and contributions to our online community, as well as on his own social networking sites it seems that he was someone that really understood the ethos that the band has always espoused, and cared very much about this. We have always believed that we have the best REAL fans around, by virtue of those that we have met here and there over the years, and this is something that we have always taken an incredible pride in, more than you could ever know. Howard seemed to epitomise this, and we are exceptionally proud to have had him on our side, flying our flag.
We are just SO sorry this happened…we would have done anything we could to try and help. We want everyone to know that this is not a band of fucking rock stars, if you want to contact us you always can. I am not saying that we could have changed this - we would hate to come off as having highfaluting ideas of our own influence - or that we are the right people for the job or whatever, but we do want you all to know that we care very much about everyone that cares about us- and the thought that one of you found themselves feeling like they had no options is something that breaks our heart.
