Apparently the crowd were a bit hostile, to be expected though.

Lets take life and slow it down incredibly slow, frame by frame with two minutes that take ten years to live out. Yeah, lets do that.

Hello Kevin!!!

If only I paid a little bit more attention in French class... Thanks though!

My colleague has been to see Aerosmith this tour (in Nijmegen so without the Cribs. I swear, I would have so joined him if they had, which meant we had to close the company early ;) ) and he told me a little bit about the crowd that was there. Not a hostile crowd in general, but a crowd who would definitely go 'wtf is this noise about?'. I bet it was some experience for them.

Here is the review in English (thank you google chrome for translating!)
In the series of unexpected year, provide Cribs tonight the first part of grandpas glam Aerosmith Bercy. One can hardly imagine displays more mismatched. On one side the Bostonians bombastic guitars with glitter, the big American machine in all its splendor, and another independent group par excellence of English dowdy provincial, showmanship at virtually nonexistent ... Already in November, their performance opening for Franz Ferdinand was not a resounding success, it is reasonable to worry about them.

They attacked valiantly We Were Aborted and Hey Scenesters!, hoping no doubt that the crystalline riffs of Johnny and the gimmick of their murderous manifesto of 2005 their will be enough to curry favor with the public at Bercy ... But do not fill a room of 17,000 people who will. The public comes out to see the evening together once or twice a year, and for them the Yorkshire has never been a breed of small dog. Ryan has just multiply breaks Masai warrior in heat, Bercy remains unmoved. The English have a setlist yet chosen wisely, mixing songs from the last album Ignore The Ignorant the single most significant precedents. It was hoped that, perhaps, the experience of Johnny Marr (We Share The Same Skies) and choruses (Mirror Kissers) cheer rockers Sunday over the tracks, but it is not. Instead, it's getting worse and worse. We are even beginning to hear a few whistles. As they say so themselves, it must ignore the ignorant, and do not get discouraged.

Johnny Marr and Jarman struggled to do the show. Former Smith twirls his guitar, Ryan launches a small solo in the introduction to Hendrixien I'm A Realist, climb on an amp to sing Men's Needs... but nothing works. The "Aerophile" remain tight, and even become hostile: we see the fingers of honor stand. Ambiance!
Finally, as a snub, the Cribs play City Of Bugs, one of their songs the longest and least catchy of their repertoire, much to the chagrin of Parisians who are waiting for Steve Tyler and his band. It's whistles in many Northerners out of the scene, not without having left their guitar amps for a feedback effect maximum insured. Lean revenge.

One may wonder where to assign the brilliant idea of combining these groups so radically different, fortunately only a handful of shows and not a full tour! Decidedly, the Cribs are really not made for the general public.

Id imagine the guys would have probably relished it. I imagine it would have been a decent challenge to try and win over some Aerosmith fans; besides, they've encountered this before when supporting the Sex Pistols.

My colleagues! (fair does, they're over 40) One of them does like the sound of the Cribs though, the other one I haven't exposed to the music just yet (he's new, I'll give him some more time).

Hmmm... I'm not so sure. I've seen the Cribs a couple of times in a crowd of people who had no clue who they were and who were quite rejectful before even heard a tone (Franz fans for one, mind, which was shocking). It is nice though when your effort pays off and people join in just because you are having a good time.
